About Us

The Michigan Self-Help Center Alliance is a professional network of legal self-help centers in Michigan.

The Alliance is supported by the Michigan Justice for All Commission and hosted by Michigan Legal Help.

Our Mission

The Michigan Self-Help Center Alliance is dedicated to improving statewide self-help center operations and services, providing training and outreach support, coordinating statewide data collection and management, and providing guidance on expanding center services. It is the mission of the Alliance to advocate for greater support for self-help services and to facilitate and foster collaboration and growth amongst self-help centers and their staff.

Our Vision

In nearly three-quarters of civil cases, at least one side does not have an attorney. Legal self-help services provide people facing legal issues without an attorney with high-quality legal information and tools to better equip them to navigate the legal system and enforce their legal rights. These services are an essential part of addressing the justice gap. It is the vision of the Michigan Self-Help Center Alliance to improve and increase the availability of legal self-help services for Michigan residents so that every resident has access to free, high-quality self-help services.
